SOLVED!! I forgot a track that my dad taught me some years ago (until he reminded me). What he said was too warm it up, then turn the idle way down...enought to still run...then adjust the mixture screw...I heard the idle go up a reasonable amount. It turned out that the idle was too high and the idle speed difference was not very detectable until I turned the initial idle down.

Thanks for the responses, and hope what I learned helps others.

All yeah, I notice a SIGNIFICANT difference in the performance of the bike...no black smoke, but a lot of extra pull at higher rpms. The lower speed performance is good too.

Can't wait for the K&N filter to be release this June (or so)!!!
